A few weeks ago, we got a call from Sakti Coir Products in Pollachi. They run an RFC combi machine, Rinser, Filler, Capper, and one of the capping heads had failed. The plunger was bent. The line was down. Production had stopped.
The pressure was immediate. But what made this case genuinely difficult was not just the urgency. The customer had no documentation for the original part. No material grade, no spec sheet, no reference drawing. Just a damaged component and a stopped production line.
Before we could source anything, we had to figure out what we were sourcing.
Reverse-engineering the answer
We ran a hardness test on the damaged plunger to determine the original material grade. This gave us what we needed: not a guess, but a verified starting point.
From there, we moved fast.
We sourced the raw material, went to multiple manufacturers for quotes, evaluated the best option, handed over the material, and got the replacement parts manufactured to spec.
The components were delivered within days.
But we did not stop at delivery
After the parts were in, we sat down with the customer to talk about what had caused the failure in the first place.
A bent plunger is rarely a one-time accident. It usually signals something upstream, misalignment, pressure irregularity, or operator handling, that will cause the same failure again if left unaddressed.
So we flagged it. Walked them through what to watch for. Gave them the maintenance guidance they needed to prevent a repeat.
What end-to-end actually means
A lot of services will find you a vendor and forward you a quote. That is procurement as a transaction.
What we did here was different. Diagnose the problem, identify the material, source the raw material, get competitive quotes, manage the manufacturer, deliver the part, and advise on what comes next. That is procurement as a service.
If your line is down or you are facing a sourcing challenge with no clear starting point, that is exactly the kind of problem we are built for.
